What is The Big House?

The Big House is a recently restored, historic venue located in the heart of Downtown Ruston, Louisiana. As Ruston’s premier rental venue, The Big House is available to rent for weddings, receptions, corporate events, reunions, showers, etc. The property consists of a 6,000 sq ft main house, a 900 sq ft Carriage House and almost 2 acres of manicured garden space.     This colonial revival style home with its grandiose front columns has been a staple in the Ruston community since it was constructed in 1884. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property borders the Downtown Ruston Historic District, one of only 34 Louisiana Main Street Communities.   The Big House is within walking distance of the Dixie Center for the Arts, which is a restored historic theater.  Downtown Ruston is known for its exciting college-town atmosphere which provides a charming and convenient destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment for its guests. The Big House is also located just minutes from Louisiana Tech University campus including Joe Aillet Stadium, Lambright Sports Center, and J.C. Love Baseball Field known locally as the “Love Shack”.
